Description: This was taken near the northern end of Gateway close to the pedistrian bridge that crosses over the highway. The van driver, whose license plate is 070 DER, came dangerously close to the bike rider, first getting right behind the rider then dangerously passing. The worst part of this close encounter is that if the van had waited but a second, she would have been able to move far enough to the side that the van could have all the room in the world to pass.
This driver's actions are rated 5 out of 5 for poor judgment. Any closer and the biker would have been hit.

Hello and welcome to PoorJudgmentEugene. The point of this channel is simple, virtually every time I ride my bike through the Eugene/Springfield (Oregon) area I nearly get hit by a car, run into a pedestrian that isn't paying attention or nearly hit a dog off their leash.
To protect myself, I and my friends have taken to recording our trips. Every time someone does something that is in poor judgment, I am going to post the video. The police won't do anything if a car and I have a near miss. I called them once after a near miss even telling them I had video and they wouldn't do a damn thing. No impact, no crime. So the only course of action I have left is public shaming. It is my foolish hope/goal that this will help ease the poor judgment and lack of politeness that has turned my bike rides into nothing but a series of close calls and anger inducing incidents. So watch, favorite, comment, perhaps one of these videos will go viral and someone will finally pay attention to the epidemic of poor driving and inconsiderate pedestrians that plagues my area.
From time to time local news stories will be posted to drive home this epidemic. I am not just here to show people with very poor judgment. I want change to happen. I want people to pay attention. SEE ME. Just because I am a biker does not mean you have a right to ignore me and endanger my life with your vehicle.
